View bzlogh 5 comments. It was an easy read and much like a sweet melody; a slow, gentle and pleasing tune. After waiting quite some time to hear This book runs parallel to The Ideal Wife, beginning before that book and ending after it completes.
Priss life was a diaster that led from a manor house to a house of prostitution. There was none of the voluptuousness jewsl normally expected of a whore. As he opened the buttons, he could see that she wore nothing beneath. Average in all accounts, intelligence, looks, personality, etc. Her characters really did seem so well rounded and plausible despite the unusual circumstances in which they meet.
She works in a Disneyland brothel run by her old governess!!!!

She loved Gerald greatly never putting him down jedel rushing him, but always steady and clam, saw the man whom was a little slow and not so perfect, and saw the strong man he could and would be.
But it wasn’t my favorite by her. And why, oh why, did she have a relationship with Gerald except for the money? She trained them to lose their regional accents and coarse vocabulary and to give the illusion of being ladies.

A Precious Jewel is a slow moving book. Also by Mary Balogh. Our hero and heroine have problems, conflict, and a very gritty relationship. His fair hair curled into no particular style, but it was soft and clean.
The ending accomplished what I wish more romance books would accomplish. And those of you readers who are devoted to unlikely lovers will enjoy A Precious Jewel for that very reason.
Sir Gerald Stapleton is a confirmed batchlor. Overall, I enjoyed this book. He was absolutely NOT hero material and did very little to take care of Prissy. Well, besides his being generally nice, though sometimes speaking in a careless and cruel way, he did not have anything for himself.
