This is the first book I read involving lesbian romance. With David in tow, the doctors tell her she has been healed completely even though the extent of her injuries were so massive, her scars have shown up all over her body. While she’s attracted to David, she’s also attracted to Amber, and she’s struggling to determine who she wants to be with.
Which brings me to my next point: The pacing of this book is really terrible. Sep 30, Breanne rated it it was ok. I am a parent. David and Reese had that budding romance that didn’t really go anywhere. I like that there’s an underlying feeling of randomness to the context of the things happening here but I was waiting for a turn in the story that will elicit some visceral, human reaction from me as a reader.

I have a bundle of problems with Adaptation, and I feel like they all come from roughly the same place: It’s more of a catalyst for the action, which shifts away from the bird stuff, and then touches on it briefly later to resolve it.

Totally robbing the book as a whole. Things are happening, and after the birds suddenly die, things are different. It was all one giant blank spot, and when she tried to think about it, pain pierced her head. Malinda Lo is the author of several young adult novels including the sci-fi thriller Adaptation ; the sequel, Inheritancewill be published Malindq. That she’s attracted to anyone after that big David rejection! The first and the last parts work but the middle not so much, which is unfortunate because I think the teen science fiction genre is desperately in need of some more alien conspiracies to be honest.
Sometimes, it bleeds out into college and even after graduation, but it’s all expected to be determined while in high school. Governments always keep secrets, they believe it’s better to keep the people calm and collected, to not rile them or raise their suspicions, but keeping secrets does exactly that.

It’s not problematic, but I have a love for this kind of story and I can’t put my finger on why.
adaptatioon San Francisco feels like a different place with police enforcing curfew, hazmat teams collecting dead birds, and a strange presence that seems to be following her. The character development lacks strength. Too, the frenetic ending involving another government facility and secrets revealed feels rushed and not as developed as it could have afaptation, which is a shame.

There was some worrying from me that we were going to have a new angle on the dreaded love triangle but it really did work itself out in the end and didn’t feel like a triangle at all.
She brings a refreshing honesty to her genre, and even transcends the YA category. Since the book has yet to be released, I will malibda from any spoi I never set out with the intention to read science fiction, but as it happens, I read a fair amount of it anyway. It starts kicking and screaming with an engaging, awesome and scary set-up.
The romance and suspense is equally distributed, the parental figure isn’t brushed to the addaptation like most other YA books, and a mystery you can’t wait to know the outcome for. Lots of action and adventure. Can she forgive herself?
