Petersburg, Moscow, Berlin and Prague were a bit much, and I ended up skimming quite a few sections. Reflective nostalgia dwells on the ambivalences of human longing and belonging and does not shy away from the contradictions of modernity.
Boym is quite perceptive about the immigrant mindset, expectations, and associated nostalgia. I absolutely loved the opening chapters, as well as the other rather occasional sections that engage directly with the question of locating and theorizing nostalgia.
