He chose to be a fanciful humorist, but he made his own rules of rhyme, and we can love him validly in that role alone, or we can look at him as a philosopher who chose a particular mode candy expression. This bringing together of the informal and the formal is what his genius chiefly loves.

I was thinking it would be a good candj to have some candy out on the tables for people to snack on. Nash is still rhyming beautifully and audaciously, but there is a growing awareness of mortality.
A very enjoyable read. It soon gets a bit repetitive, but this is a treasure trove of witty wordplay and alliteration from the United States’ best-loved comic versifier. Nash was just brilliant,witty and his writing will feel fresh forever.

At the time of his death inthe New York Times said his “droll verse with its unconventional rhymes made him the country’s best-known producer of humorous poetry”. Endlessly amusing, so clever and original!
