znnemarie Napoleon had broken the pre-arranged crowing ritual and had crowned himself! Caulaincourt negotiated for him with the victors. Selinko, for instance, paints a picture of Napoleon’s mother as being hard-working and ever-so-loving, even though that is in contradiction to recent note-worthy biographies about the Bounapartes. The only criticism I have is that the book becomes bogged down at times with the information about Napoleon’s campaigns and the political landscape of the time.
It takes Napoleon from when desiref came to France in Marseilles through his rise in the govt, to First Consul to Emperor, and his collapse. I needed another one to be able to read which I try to do at least once a year.
