I think it has something to do with the fact that he adds foot notes to his own running narrative – sometimes long footnotes that lead to amusing stories about the follies of enslaved demons and their foolish masters, sometimes he’s just adding a clever punchline bartiimeus a trilkgia.

I like the idea of a whole new world where magician rules and even though they have the power, it’s not really their own as they have to borrow it from the djin.
